The Agence Mètre Carré project marks a special milestone: it was my first freelance project, done for a client launching their own real estate agency in Bordeaux. The agency offered an original concept with flexible fees based on the value of the properties sold.
Project goals
The challenge was to design a clear, modern and responsive showcase website, able to present:
- The services offered by the agency.
- The specificity of the sliding-scale fees, depending on the price ranges of the properties.
- A coherent and elegant design, reflecting the agency's professionalism and modernity.
The site had to be pleasant to browse on both mobile and desktop.
My mission
On this project, several hats came together:
- UI/UX Design:
- Creating wireframes and then detailed mockups in Figma.
- Designing a smooth user experience, thought out mobile-first.
- Regular exchanges with the client:
- Screen-sharing sessions over WhatsApp to present the mockups.
- Responsiveness to feedback and adjustments.
- Presenting graphic and ergonomic choices for validation.
- Preparation for development:
- Organizing the design components for future frontend development.
- Advising the client on technical feasibility and web best practices.
Challenges met
- First freelance project: learning to scope the need, estimate the workload and manage the client relationship.
- Clarity of the message: managing to simplify the complex aspect of sliding-scale fees so it would be easily understandable on the site.
- Responsive design: guaranteeing visual consistency between mobile and desktop, with adaptive mockups in Figma.
What I took away
This project was a great learning ground, both technically and relationally. It allowed me to:
- Strengthen my UI/UX design skills, notably in Figma.
- Develop my ability to present my work and explain my choices.
- Adapt to client feedback, staying responsive and attentive.
- Discover the satisfaction of delivering a concrete project that meets a real client's expectations.
The client was very satisfied with the result, which was a great reward for this first freelance challenge!
